Fun & Easy Hair Styles for Your Dog

How to do a Dog Top Knot

1. Using a comb, start with hair at the front of the dogs face and brush the hair into one small section.
2. Take a small elastic hair band and tie that section. Once you have that section secured, loosen the hair so it isn’t pulling on the dog’s eyes or is too tight.
3. Next, pull the tied section towards you and brush another small section of hair behind the first section. Tie that section and loosen where needed.
4. Once you have both sections secured, grab the bow you want to use and take the two elastics on the back of the bow and slip them over the elastic in the front section, sitting just underneath the elastic.
5. Take one more elastic and use it to tie the two sections of hair together so that the bow is nicely secured.
6. Fix the hair around the bow so it falls nicely and that’s it! Finish with a treat so the dog looks forward to the next time you do their hair.

How to do Dog Pigtails

1. Comb hair on the top of the dogs head so there are no knots and the strands are smooth.
2. Make a part down the middle of the dogs head. You can use the nose as a guide for making the center part. Once you’ve made a part comb the hair on each side so you have two distinct sides to the left and the right of the dog’s face.
3. Starting on one side, take a small amount of hair at the front of the dogs face and comb it into its own section and tie it with a small elastic band. Repeat on the other side.
4. Add a bow to each section and make sure the band attached to the bow sits below the elastic that is holding that section of hair.
5. Next, brush some of the hair behind the front section into its own section and tie it in place. Do this on both sides. Then tie the front bow section and back section together for a full pigtail.
6. Once both sections are tied, use either your fingers or a thin comb to loosen the hair so it isn’t too tight and pulling on the dog.
